My Mark V: A Showcase of Classic Elegance
Photos of the Continental My Mark V that I have owned and currently own.
CA
1978 Continental Mark V Diamond Jubilee Edition
I currently own this gorgeous 1978 Continental Mark V Diamond Jubilee Edition in Jubilee Gold Metallic Paint Code 66. This car was bought from the third owner in Iowa, and shows only 12,000 miles on the clock since new. The car was purchased new in late 1977, in Iowa, and remained within 25 miles of where it was bought until I bought the car in June, 2010. The first owner kept the car until 1981, with only 6000 miles on the odometer and was then purchased by a lawyer who placed the car in his personal collection.
The Mark V was rarely driven but maintenance was kept meticulously. The lawyer died in 1998, and the car still had just over 6000 miles recorded before it was sold to another collector. The third owner drove the car more frequently to car shows and recorded an additional 6000 miles on the odometer between 1998 and 2010. This Diamond Jubilee is very well equipped with 460 CID 4V V8 Engine, Sure Track Anti Skid Brake System, Moonroof, 40 Channel Electronic Integrated Citizens Band Radio, and Heated Thermometer Driver’s Side Mirror.

1979 Continental Mark V Collector’s Series
I currently own this one owner 1979 Continental Mark V Collector’s Series in Midnight Blue Metallic Paint Code 3Q with Midnight Blue Kasman II Cashmere Blend Luxury Cloth Interior. The car had only 11,700 miles on it when I purchased the car from a family in Virginia, who bought the car new in the Fall of 1978. Ms. Sansom was driving by her local dealer and saw the car being removed from the transport truck and took the car home without letting them detail it. The car still had the loose protective plastic on the rear seats and I performed the first suspension grease service on the car shortly after I purchased the car on Thanksgiving Day 2009.
This car is extremely well equipped with Heated Thermometer Drivers Side Mirror, Moonroof, 40 Channel Electronic Integrated Citizens Band Radio, Full Sized Spare Tire, and Traction Lok Axle. At the time I purchased this car I owned a 1978 Continental Mark V Diamond Jubilee in Diamond Blue and a 1978 Continental Mark V Diamond Jubilee Edition in Jubilee Gold. The Jubilee Gold car, dubbed Arleen, was sold to a Ford Dealer in Japan, after this car arrived.
ARLEEN
1978 Continental Mark V Diamond Jubilee Edition
I bought this car from the third owner who lived in Missouri in May, 2009, with 61,000 miles on the odometer since new. The car had been immaculately kept by its original owner named Arleen of Minnesota. The original owner drove the car into the late 1990s before selling it to a Lincoln and Continental Owner’s Club member who lived in Leander, Texas, North of Austin. The car was sold to a collector in Missouri in 2007, who I purchased it from in 2009.
The car was equipped with 460 CID 4V V8 Engine, Moonroof, and 40 Channel Integrated Electronic Citizens Band Radio. I sold this car to a Ford Dealer in Japan, in January, 2010.
KEN
1979 Continental Mark V Collector’s Series
I purchased this car from a Cadillac dealer in Port Angeles, Washington, in September, 2008, from the second owner of the car who lived in nearby Sequim, Washington. The second owner traded the car in on a new Cadillac. This gorgeous Mark V was purchased new in Atlanta, Georgia, by a Delta Airlines pilot in the Fall of 1978, to celebrate his upgrade to Captain. He drove the car until the early 2000s, and had moved the car to his second home in Washington State at some point.
When I bought the car it had 59,000 miles on the clock and had been very well maintained during its long service. It was well equipped with Moonroof, Heated Thermometer Driver’s Side Mirror, and 40 Channel Electronic Integrated Citizens Band Radio. I was living in Washington State at the time and a move to Palm Springs, California, prompted me to sell the car in May, 2009, to a dealer in London, England. At the time of the sale I owned a 1978 Diamond Blue, dubbed Maba, that was shipped to Palm Springs.
MABA
1978 Continental Mark V Diamond Jubilee Edition
I bought this car from the second owner, who lived near St Louis, Missouri, in January, 2008, with 67,000 miles recorded on the odometer since new. The car was originally purchased by a St Louis Socialite, named Maba, who bought the car new in the Fall of 1977. The car remained in her fleet of cars from 1977, until her death in 2004. At that time, her Estate sold the car to a collector who lived South of St Louis. The second owner drove the car occasionally to car shows and put less than 2000 miles on the car before I purchased it in 2008.
The car was well equipped with 460 CID 4V V8 Engine, Moonroof, Heated Thermometer Driver’s Side Mirror, and 40 Channel Electronic Integrated Citizen’s Band Radio. I sold this car in June, 2010, shortly after I purchased the 1978 Jubilee Gold car, dubbed CA, in that same month. The car was sold to a Ford Dealer in Japan.
LUCY
1979 Continental Mark V Collector’s Series
This was the first Continental Mark V that I owned since first seeing one when they debuted in 1977. Prior to this car, I owned a 1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car in White with Cordovan Roof and Body Side Molding and Cordovan Cloth Interior, a 1968 Lincoln Continental in White with Black Vinyl Roof and Black Limoge Cloth Interior, and a 1965 Lincoln Continental in Platinum Non Metallic Paint as well as various Mercury Marquis and Colony Parks.
I purchased this car, dubbed Lucy, from a small car dealer near my home in Dallas, Texas, in September, 2007. The car had 59,000 miles on the odometer and had been traded in to a local Lincoln Mercury Dealer who then wholesaled it to this local dealer. The owner had fitted the car with covers that kept the seats in perfect condition. I was never able to find the history on the car or who was the previous owner(s).
The car was equipped with Moonroof and Heated Thermometer Driver’s Side Mirror. I sold the car in January, 2008, to a collector in Norway, because I had purchased the 1978 Continental Mark V Diamond Blue car, dubbed Maba, during that same month.
