1979 Continental Mark V Collector’s Series Instrument Panel Owner’s Plaque
Fresh from the wrapper example of the 22k gold plated Instrument Panel Owner’s Plaque for the 1979 Continental Mark V Collector’s Series. The dealer where you would have purchased your new Collector’s Series Mark V would submit your name and date of purchase to a the vendor who in turn would engrave and polish the plate to perfection. It would then be mailed to you in a padded envelope in this elegant presentation box. Instructions would be included on how to affix the plate to your Mark V instrument panel or if you preferred you could simply return to your dealer and they would place the plaque for you free of charge, of course. 1979 Collector’s Series and 1978 Diamond Jubilee Edition Umbrella Comparison
You probably are not aware that the umbrella case designs are different for each of the Diamond Jubilee and Collector’s Series models. The blue Diamond Jubilee features a silver trimmed case and lined leather grain. The gold Diamond Jubilee has coordinating gold case trim and pebble leather grain. The 1979 Collector’s Series features silver case trim and patent leather graining. The umbrellas for all three cars are are black with silver metal trim pieces.

1979 Collector’s Series Owner’s Manual Leather Cover
The leather Owner’s Manual Leather Cover continued for the special cars of 1979 and specifically the 1979 Collector’s Series. A stunning midnite blue leather with silver Collector’s scripting was included. It made a sharp presentation with the shiny silver owner’s manual cover.

1979 Continental Magazine Collector’s Series Introduction Issue
Continental Magazine was Lincoln’s official publication that was sent to owner’s of Lincoln automobiles. In this special edition the Collector’s Series automobiles were introduced the magazines patrons in Fall 1978. The Collector’s Series marked the end of an era for the traditional full sized American luxury automobile. A letter from Lincoln Mercury Vice President and General Manager Walt Oben was also included.
CS DASH NAMEPLATE KIT
Collector’s Series Dash Nameplate and Door Initials Kit
For 1979 a very special 22k gold dash nameplate was engraved and given to each new owner of the 1979 Collector’s Series Mark V. The flashy plaque simply stated “Collector’s Series” with the production date and owners name engraved below that. The door initials were also a metal style plaque that was attached via an adhesive backing. The plaque background was the color of the paint of the car and the initials were dark blue or gold depending upon body color. Click for closer view.

1979 Continental Mark V Collector’s Series Leather Took Kit
Only Collector’s Series received this special and well constructed leather tool kit that was held in place in the trunk by leather straps. The finest tools were included by the best makers. The flash light was by Blue Star who made flashlights for the US military for decades. Some of the handles on the tools were embossed with the Collector’s Series script. A set of flares was also included along with a handy fuse puller. Note the original Blue Star batterys are still intact with this kit.

A LCOC member compiled the known surviving VIN’s for the 1979 Mark V Collector’s Series. A notation of body color and scheme is also included.
