1979 Lincoln Mercury Shows You The Light Brochure
This small 5-inch by 7-inch brochure was printed to send out to midyear Lincoln and Mercury customers to announce dealer incentives and discounts on special equipment packages across some car lines. Note that the new for 1979 Mercury Marquis, as well as the Lincoln line was not included in any discounts as these cars were selling in massive numbers at this point in 1979. However, that would change quickly in the spring of 1979 as the Iranian crisis put the crunch on big luxury car sales. New 1979 Mark Vs were still available at some Lincoln dealers as late as 1981.

Much like the USA VIP brochure for 1978 the Canadian Lincoln market also received this sharp loose leaf brochure. The Canadian VIP brochure was mailed out to previous Lincoln customers in late Spring 1977 to announce the coming 1978 Diamond Jubilee cars. The brochure was contained in a gold cover with each car line photographed on card quality paper with an accompanying explanation on the back of each. Not as elegant as the USA version it was still very nice and much larger in size at 14 inches by 14 inches.

This rare and unique brochure featured a simulated burled walnut front and back cover. It was mailed out by dealers to perspective customers who currently drove “the other luxury car make” to detail the supreme offerings from Lincoln for 1978. A very nice brochure that measures 12 inches by 9 inches.

The end of the traditional full sized Lincoln heralded a stunning VIP brochure. Complete with grained white heavy card stock covers and onion skin inner pages the 1979 VIP brochure was something to behold. Featuring full color and an array of elaborate photographs of the Continentals in beautiful action settings set this special brochure apart from the rest. This was more than the last year for the traditional full sized Lincoln it also spelled the end of elaborate VIP offerings such as this. The end of an era indeed.

The 1978 Continental VIP brochure was sent out to past and present Lincoln owners to give them a first hand view of the new Continentals. A beautiful full color brochure the covers were a stunning grained shiny gold card stock with the Continental names embossed on the front. This brochure specifically introduced the incredible Diamond Jubilee Collection of Lincolns to commemorate Ford’s 75th Anniversary. Just as the Diamond Jubilee Mark V spared no expense in its offerings neither did the VIP brochure.

No cost was spared in producing the very special 1977 VIP brochure. These special brochures were mailed out only to past and present Lincoln customers to give them a preview of the upcoming Continental offerings for 1977. Made from very high quality glossy card stock these brochures were mailed out in the early summer of 1976 in a sleek embossed envelope to give current Lincoln owners a first look at the new Continentals. Elaborate settings for each car was the name of the game for this brochure.

1979 Continental Mark V Premium Dealer Sales Brochure
A more action oriented approach was taken with the final full size Mark V brochure. The special Mark V Collector’s Series was modeled by non other than soon to be Magnum PI star Tom Selleck. This brochure was printed on slick glossy heavy cardstock but the photography emphasized the lifestyle that could be lead with each Mark V model rather than emphasizing the formality of the car as had been done in 1977 and 1978.

A very slick pamphlet it is printed on fine gloss paper with the covers done in rich elegant grained card stock. The inside covers are onion skin which reveal a stunning photograph of the Mark I through Mark IV. This is of course followed by the introduction to the stunning 1977 Mark V.

To add the last word in luxury to your new Continental Mark V you could buy personalized custom leather luggage designed to fit perfectly into your new car’s trunk. This was a special order option and was obtained from an outside vendor. The last printed brochure for the luggage was this 1977 rendition. The luggage was however offered through the 1979 model year.
